Build your own wine cellar

Transform an existing room into a wine cellar with ease. Simply insulate the space, install a Norcool cooling unit, and enjoy your wine collection stored under optimal conditions.

Mind the size

Avoid oversizing the room. Norcool’s largest cooling unit has a capacity of up to 20,000 litres, corresponding to a room size of approximately 2.7 × 3.0 m with a ceiling height of 2.4 m.

All cooling units emit heat, with the amount depending on the unit’s capacity. This heat can be utilised in an adjacent room. It is important that the ambient temperature on the warm side (where the compressor section is located) does not exceed 27°C, as higher temperatures may result in unnecessary runtime. Ensure a minimum clearance of 50 cm above the unit to allow warm air to escape. The temperature on the warm side should also not drop below 10–12°C.

For optimal performance inside the wine cellar, allow at least 1 m of clear space to the opposite wall and avoid positioning the unit directly opposite the door.

Prefer a prefabricated solution?

If you prefer not to build and insulate a room yourself, Norcool offers prefabricated panel wine cellars that can be assembled in one to two hours using only an Allen key.

100% moisture-safe

When installed with an air gap between the existing floor and walls, a prefabricated panel wine cellar is fully protected against moisture damage and condensation.

Space-saving

Compared with site-built wine cellars, prefabricated rooms are highly space-efficient. The insulated polyurethane wall panels are only 5 cm thick.

Moveable

The room can easily be dismantled and relocated, allowing you to take your wine cellar with you if you move.

Sizes

Prefabricated panel rooms are available in four sizes:

  1. 120 × 120 cm – 2,420 L
  2. 120 × 180 cm – 3,740 L
  3. 180 × 180 cm – 5,780 L
  4. 180 × 220 cm – 7,140 L

The rooms are highly flexible with many different combinations for placing the door and the cooling unit.

Cooling units

Cooling units are mounted into pre-cut openings in the wall panels. Split units can also be used with any room size. A split unit separates the cold and warm sections into different rooms, connected by refrigerant piping.

Please specify this option when ordering. For detailed information on cooling unit sizes and performance, refer to the dedicated product documentation.
